Stereotype Smashers: The Gender Equality Game is a European Erasmus+ project born from a strong belief: the workplaces of the future must be able to value diversity. Getting there takes more than regulations and good intentions: it needs concrete, innovative and engaging tools to recognise and overcome the unconscious bias that still shapes careers, opportunities and people's wellbeing.
Too often gender stereotypes are seen as something abstract or confined to academic debate. In reality they have very practical consequences: they influence how tasks are distributed, the language used with colleagues, the chance to balance personal and professional life. SMEs, the backbone of the European economy, risk not having adequate tools to address these issues.
From these insights came the idea of GEG – Gender Equality Game. Play, with its ability to spark curiosity, lower defences and create common ground for dialogue, can become a powerful educational tool: playing means questioning yourself, seeing reality from another point of view, feeling emotions that help internalise complex messages.
For Itineris, Glow and Mobilizing Expertise, taking part means contributing our experience in equal opportunities, gamification and organizational consulting, but also placing at the centre an idea we care about: cultural transformation happens through the active involvement of people. Not teaching something from above, but creating spaces where everyone can recognise their own patterns and discover more inclusive alternatives.
