The Stereotype Smashers: The Gender Equality Game project took an important step towards understanding gender dynamics in the world of work through two series of dedicated focus groups held in Italy and Sweden.

In parallel with the focus groups, we launched a new round of focus groups in Sweden in June, involving similar contexts. The approach was similar and complementary: guided by Mobilizing Expertise, participants shared their daily experiences, identifying entrenched stereotypes but also positive examples of inclusivity. The main themes revolved around flexible work culture, career access, and the recognition of gender-neutral skills.
Results and impact
The comparative approach between Italy and Sweden enriched the project's knowledge base, highlighting the cultural and operational peculiarities of the two contexts. This comparison provided a solid basis for more effectively adapting the three game prototypes to local realities.
Thanks to these focus groups, the project achieved:
a realistic picture of stereotypes and behaviors in the workplace;
concrete examples to use in game design;
an opportunity for discussion between partners, enriching the European dimension of the project.
